I have a machine learning app that use NLP models for text processing, i wanted to now if it's possible to creat a plug-in of my app to apply it directly to the pdf text ? Let's say my model will highlight stop-words in that pdf doc. Is it possible ? Thank you

You can certainly write a plug-in for Acrobat Pro that highlights words based on text processing. You don't need to purchase any licenses (except for Acrobat Reader), just download the SDK. There are also several PDF libraries that you could use to write a stand alone application for PDF processing.

Hello Thom, Thank you for your response, so this can be done only for Acrobat Pro ? and how can i call an extrenal API to launch my NLP Model and disply the output on the same PDF?

A plug-in can only be done without fees for Acrobat Pro, Acrobat Reader plug-ins require a fee.

If your NLP is a DLL or static library, then it can be loaded/compiled into the plug-in. You would need to read about plug-ins to get a grounding on what is possible for local file system and resource access. There are restrictions based on preference settings in Acrobat.

HTTP access is less restricted  (again, preference settings). If your NLP is a remote service that is accessed through an HTTP PUT, then you could do this with a JavaScript Add-in.
