Need Help with grayed out form fields and actions!

I need help. I have a two different issues I need help on.

First I have a button that activates a layer to say sold across the entire form. How do I also get that button to gray out? Also the sold layer grays out everything but the form fields are still above it even though when I imported the layer I made sure it came in on top.  So I can't figure that out.

Secondly, I have two check boxes and I want whatever check box that doesn't get checked to gray out.  Any help appreciated!
