kglad, you are a legend!!!! I followed the instructions and was able to RE-install my CS5 onto my MacOs Sierra 10.12.2.

Now I can't update, however will see if I can apply the same principal to the "update files" I've downloaded and get the same error when I open them. Will report back to you. Thank you so MUCH again for your HELP.

Here are the steps for others who might come across those errors what to do to bypass the initial error.

-------------------------

Steps to take to re-install CS5 on macOS Sierra 10.12.2 when getting an error: “install .app” can’t be opened. You should eject the disk image"

first close System preferences

open Terminal

enter this command:

sudo spctl --master-disable

Than I restarted the computer.

Opened Terminal again

Right clicked on the Photoshop_12_LS1.dmg file and clicked open, then had a window open where I clicked on install Photoshop and when i saw the screen with the “install.app” file, I right clicked on it and selected “show package content “ click on content and then select MacOs folder and in there you will see the “install” file. Drag and drop that file into the terminal window and press ENTER after.

Application will install.

Below are the links i was given to where I was able to re-install my application.

Hi just to let you know that answer doesnt help as the new security on macOs Sierra 10.12.2 has only two security options from whom you can install applications from. See below my screen shot. I am still unable to install my CS5.
