PDF Quality dramatically reduced

I've been using Acrobat Standard DC for months without a problem, but in the last week or two my PDF quality has dropped significantly appearing granulated. They also take longer than usual to produce. I have not changed any settings.....help!

How did you create the files?

I printed to Adobe PDF writer within AutoCAD within the model.

On reflection I wonder if it may be an AutoCAD issue as it does work when printing from page layouts within the same program....
