Populate Form Field with Data Stored in Excel File

I'm trying to find a way to populate a form field by pulling data from an excel file that gets frequently updated. This will be used for a tracking number that will be incremented when new products are released so anyone can know what number to use by just opening the PDF form.

For example, the excel file will have the number "1278" as the last number in Column B, so when the PDF is opened the field will have the number "1278." Whenever someone adds to the excel file and opens a new PDF, the last number will be filled in for them.

Is this even possible? I heard you can do it with exporting the excel file but I don't want that to be necessary every time it is used.

Thanks so much!

You want to reverse the process. You can use a macro (VBA) in Excel to push the value into the PDF then open it.

This is what I was afraid of. The form will be sent around and autosaved to a specific location so I don't want to add an excel file on top of that :/

So... you want the PDF which could be located anywhere to pull a cell out of an Excel file located... ... ... where exactly?
