previewer crashes on server 2012

We have adobe acrobat Xi Pro installed on a windows server 2012 r2 server that the users use the preview window open & delete PDF's based on windows file manager preview.

Users get error that file is in use.

As an admin, before the preview pops up we get an error that 'an internal error occured'

As this is used alternating by users with secure permissions, we need it to preview without crashing, because the preview crash is likely locking the file for writing. (or erasing)

Support remains available for XI. But of course a community forum is not the support process.

Only security problems are fixed in XI. Some claim DC fixes this.

You you have only one license? Does not sound right.

Hi pk16GCS ,

When you are saying pre-viewer, do you mean Windows explorer preview?

And once you try to delete the file, are those files located on the local machine or on the shared drive?

Tariq Dar.

1. Acrobat DC replaced Acrobat XI. XI is no longer sold.

2. I assume you have a volume license allowing the number of users of Acrobat Pro.  For each user, start Acrobat and verify the licensing is working by opening a PDF.

Dear Sir,

we have a license for Adobe Acrobat XI Pro ,if you are suggesting we cannot get support for that product any more, please be clear.

now, i have adobe acrobat xi installed on a windows 10 machine & the preview function works fine.

Windows 10 & server 2012, are of course, different in many ways, but the preview functionality is inherently similar.

What should be done.

Hi ,

Please make sure that Acrobat Xi Pro version 11.0.17 should be installed on your system (If not use this :- Adobe - Acrobat : For Windows ).

If its installed, then would request you to restart the windows server & then check for the same .

Yatharth
