Printing PDF files

Hi I have recently bought a new printer. It works well and can print any file except PDF files. When I go to print PDF files the printer is not visible in the drop down and I get a message that says I need to install a printer before I can print. Can anyone help please?

This happens when I use adobe acrobat reader DC. I have tried my original version of adobe reader and also installed the latest version of acrobat reader. My computer is Windows 7.
