Problem Converting AutoCAD to PDF in Acrobat Professional

Hi all,

I have to convert quite a lot AutoCAD drawings to PDF in order to put them into our document control system.

I have just tested it on a few .dxf files and although, most files do convert okay, I came across a couple of issues straight away.

1. When one of the drawings had been converted around 30% of the drawing had been cut off from the sides.

2. One of the drawing displayed a blank page when converted.

I have checked these files in my AutoCAD viewer and they display correctly there. Am I doing something incorrectly to convert these files?

Cheers,

Alistair

Hi aliw1,

Which version of AutoCad are you using?

What exact workflow are you executing to get PDF.

Could you please share a sample file with us? You can mail it to me at mrraj@adobe.com.

Hi Mridula,

The drawings I am looking at currently are 3rd party legacy drawings made using AutoCAD 2000. But, realistically I will be converting drawings made with all versions of AutoCAD. Is Acrobat able to convert all versions of AutoCAD? I wanted to use this software for this task as I already have it installed and it looked to be a very easy solution.

When converting these to .pdf i have been dragging a dropping a file into Acrobat and then using the settings below to do the conversion:

I have only done a test sample of 20 files so far and 17 of the 20 came out fine. I have tried out a few different settings but have had no success with the other 3.

Unfortunately I cannot share the drawings.

Regards,

Alistair

Hi Alistair,

You can visit the link and check ACAD- Acrobat table to know all supported versions: Web browsers and PDFMaker applications compatible with Acrobat and Reader

File created from the supported ACAD version should convert to PDF correctly.

Regarding the sample files: Do you find any element or component in the .dxf (3 drawings not converted correctly) different from the dxf file which are converted correctly?

Thanks,

Mridula
