problem with previous created pdf files from amother program version

My computer crashed and I lost all program files. I reinstalled Acrobat Pro XI from Abode download and used it to open backup files for this program. Because of a licensing issue I had to reinstall Acrobat Pro XI from the original disc. After installing I tried to open the same file from backup but instead of opening in Acrobat Pro desktop it open as a webpage without any formatting ability. I tried printing the document again to Adobe Pro XI and saving as the same name. It still opens as a webpage. Now ALL my older pdf files open as a webpage. How to I get back to the formation ability of the non web page version. Telephone support does not help.

I guess you are double clicking to open. DON'T. Double clicking is a shortcut, and it often lets you down: you need to know how to open the traditional way. Start Acrobat, use Open from the File menu.

I figured that out, thanks. So Adobe has changed the ability open form the pdf icon saved anywhere on the pc desktop or c: or even backup external drives? Is that correct. Only through opening the program each and every time to even email the document. Does that make sense?

No, that's not correct. Nothing has been taken away. But something's wrong on your system, and I wanted to focus on making it work first. Once we're sure it works, we can look at repairing it, if you prefer to work that way (I don't).
