Radio mouse click on either chosen word to be enclosed in circle or oval

In an old gov't pdf form used to be filled handwritten there is a line "Acceptable Rejectable (circle one word)".I am converting it to fillable pdf form with Acrobat XI PRO. How do i generate a Radio button choice so either "Acceptable" or "Rejectable" is enclosed in a circle or oval by a mouse click on either word by a user of an Acrobat Reader? It is not brought out in the Adobe Acrobat XI Classroom In A Book by Adobe Press.

This type of behavior isn't a standard feature of radio buttons or check boxes. You can fake it with the help of buttons, either by toggling the visibility of the border or using a more involved technique if you need more control and access to the field value (e.g., data import/export, get/set via JavaScript, etc.) The latter approach is demonstrated in the following sample PDF: http://acroscript.net/pdf/demos/button_checkbox.pdf

Note that this approach may not work in some non-Adobe PDF viewers and most mobile PDF viewers, but it works fine in Adobe Reader/Acrobat on Windows/Mac.

I understand, George. I don't know much of the Acrobat yet. I am just a starting apprentice and learner for now. That's why I purchased the "Acrobat XI PRO Classroom In A Book" with 13 chapters from my own earnings. I don't mind doing the hard work now, but come out to have helped my co-workers easing up on their struggles to complete the paperwork by hand and running to the copy machines for duplicate copies of what they sign. Maybe I would have to also buy a book on Javascript too, huh? :-)

That's a bit like asking "Where am I supposed to store the hay for my horses in my new car?"... Digital forms and paper forms are not the same thing. You should not try to force the latter to behave exactly like the former. It doesn't make sense and it will only cost you a lot of time and aggravation.

Just use regular radio-buttons or check-boxes, and change the instructions on the form accordingly.

Yes, try67, I agree it doesn't make sense how I have to do it. It is however a violation of the federal workforce culture to apply common sense in our work evolutions. The document form is the hierarchy mandated form and no alterations are allowed in how to fill it up or printed out, until the bureaucracy issues an updated one. Just like the IRS tax forms, the taxpayer cannot submit his own modified tax form, even if he encloses his tax payment in the envelope. However, if there is among our horses named Mercedes, I probably could get away having the cart of horse hays pulled and steered by my Mercedes Benz, Cross my fingers.

If you're not allowed to modify the form then you're probably not allowed to add form fields to it, either...
