saving edited file

Using a mac; I edited a pdf file (a blank form) using Fill and sign tool, but when I tried to save it using Save as, it saved the blank form and none of my editorial additions.

Also when I tried to print it, it printed the blank form. I emded up losing all my edits, 3 hours work ;-(
