Serial number refused. Any reason ?

I have an Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 version. I've recently changed my laptop and thought I could install this version on my new one because I'm just happy with it. It turns out that my serial number has been refused as not being valid. Is there any good reason for that ?? What can I do ?

Is the serial number solely for Acrobat or is it designated for a Creative Suite? The software has to be installed relative to the suite if it is the latter.
