Signature validity is unknown

I have a document digitally signed with Acrobat Pro 9.  In Adobe Reader, when I click on the signature to validate it, I get the message "signature validity is unknown".  How do I fix this?  Do I need an fdf file and how to get?

In Acrobat export the certificate.

Open the fdf file with the Reader.
