simple numbering stamp

Question

I need a simple  to place a numbering sequence on a dynamic stamp. I have searched the entire web for 5 whole days and have found that I must pay $140 to get such a simple java script to simply apply a numbering system to a dynamic stamp that counts every time it is placed! Is there anyway to obtain a script that I can add to a dynamic stamp to simply number itself 001, 002, 003, and so on for each time I place the stamp on a pdf document?

Acrobat Professional includes the Bates Numbering function. It is also possible for one to write their own tool to add a comment stamp that can sequentially number PDFs. It can become more complex when one add various options like the starting number, number of repeats before advancing, etc.
