Submit Buttons

Question

Hey!Ive created a fillable form in Indesign that I have converted to a PDF and all is well. I had a few issues getting the submit button I created to display properly, It now appears but not on mobile.... any ideas why? Also, Ive manage to turn off the coloured fields but again, not for mobile???My biggest concern though is the functionality of the submit button. What is the point of having a decorative button at the end of the form (which I very much want) if it doesn't send to the email address you specified? It is sending to a different inbox for some reason. I am trying to make the submit button that I created, work to where I specified, on desktop and mobile. Any suggestions? Many thanks!

Answer: Not all PDF viewers are capable of submitting PDF forms to your inbox, such as, Chrome. Adobe's plugins are being phased out because of security issues. Even mobile versions of Adobe Reader are incapable of submitting forms; because they have limited JavaScript functionality. So, unless you find a compatible PDF viewer capable of submitting the forms; you should stick with HTML forms for a reliable way to receive form data.

If you have the mobile clients fill and submit HTML forms; it's possible to merge the HTML form data with a blank PDF form using 3rd party software (iText) and email the merged form to the recipient's inbox.
