Template for assembling multiple PDFs?

I regularly need to assemble PDFs from 38 or so separate documents. They need to be in a particular order, with bookmarks assigned to each, specific indentations/outlines for the bookmarks, and specific names for each bookmark.

Currently I do this by highlighting all of the files in windows explorer, right clicking, and selecting "Combine supported files in Acrobat..." which results in quite a bit of manual editing that is very time consuming.

I am wondering if Acrobat has a more efficient way of accomplishing this. For example, is there a way for me to import/insert a file to a bookmark that is already in place? Alternatively, is there a template feature that would allow me to specify the ordering/bookmarks ahead of time?

If the file-paths and bookmarks structure are always the same then it can be done using a script. I've already developed a tool that does something quite similar to what you've described. It can be found here: Custom-made Adobe Scripts: Acrobat -- Combine PDF files from a text list
