There was a problem reading this document (15)

I am working with a large pdf (155mb) in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.5.5 and I am trying to break it up into more management volumes.  When I select the pages to extract, I receive the following error "There was a problem reading this document (15)".

This error means that your document is messed up beyond repair.If you downloaded it from some place, download again, and see if it works now. If not, contact the owner of the document and let them know.

Sometimes if you resave the document, close, and reopen, you can get around such issue. The resave will sometimes seem to fix the corruption as long as the file is readable.
