Is it possible to produce electronic documents (PDF/A) using a lossless compressed TIFF as the embedded graphic format in a batch process without losing the OCR from TIFF?

Hi Yazmin,

Thanks for your query.

Yes, you can convert TIFF files to PDF/A documents using the Actions & Batch tool.

First step is to set the preference for TIFF to PDF conversion as follows:

  1. Select Edit-> Preferences -> Convert to PDF->TIFF (On Mac OS Acrobat Pro->Preferences ->Convert to PDF->TIFF).
  2. Now click on "Edit Settings..." button and choose the desired settings.

Now create an action using following steps:

  1. Choose Tools-> Action Wizard
  2. In the secondary toolbar click New Action.  The Create New Action dialog is displayed.
  3. In the Choose Tools To Add pane, expand the Save & Export panel and double click on the Save task.
  4. Click Specify Settings button .
  5. Chose the radio button Export File(s) to Alternate Format .
  6. Now select PDF/A from the Export to drop-down.
  7. Click on Save button.
  8. In the Save Action dialog box, enter a name and a description for the action and click Save.

Newly added action appears under the Actions list in the right hand pane.  Choose the action from the list. Under Files To Be Processed, click Add Files to select the TIFF files that you want to run the action on.  When all the files you want to process are listed, click Start.

For details refer: Adobe Acrobat DC Action Wizard .

Hope this answers your query.
