type shows up on Acrobat but doesn't print

I am a digital printer and I just received two files that are throwing me for a loop. These files are just standard pdf posters. When I open them up in acrobat they look fine. As soon as I drop it in my Rip software (Fiery command work station) the type drops out. When I ran preflight in acrobat the type also disappears. Does any one know why this might be happening? I am using Acrobat DC on a Mac OS X.
