we are getting a "do not have permission to write here" message when trying to reduce file size in Actobat XI standard

we are getting a "do not have permission to write here" message when trying to reduce file size in Actobat XI standard.  We have tried this under various accounts, and in different locations, and the user is an administrator on computer and the file permissions are okay.  The file is 5 GB in size
