When I type a business letter and file as a document , how do I set it up in oder to prevent the lines of copy from being scrambled when opened ?

When typing a letter in Documents and filing as a pdf , how do i set it up initially in order to prevent the lines of copy from being scrambled when the file is copied or forwarded ? This must be an easy one , but I have not found the  solution yet .
