Hi

I need your help with the following question:  I more or less just need the pdf merge (combine existing pdfs) and compress functionalty for use in a aprogramme with VBA. I donot need or want the full programme to be installed.

Which version or license I have to buy? Could also be an older one if the functionalyities have been implemented already.

Thanks for your help.

1. Acrobat SDK. This is a tool for automating Acrobat. There is no concept of "not installing the app" because the app does the work. A subscription for Acrobat Standard or Acrobat Pro should be sufficient. Important: this cannot be used on a server, or run as a service/background app, or redistributed. No old apps are legally sold.

2. Acrobat Services SDK. This is an API to a web service. It has its own licensing. All work is sent to Adobe's servers. Acrobat is not needed.

Thanks for your help.

If I dont want to work with monthly or yearly subscriptions but buy the software as standalone, then in such case Adobe Standard will work? I tested what I want to do with a computer who has a full adobe suite subsription and latest adobe acrobat installed. I did not need to install any specific SDK but just reference the Adobe Acrobat Library in VBA (maybe this is meant when using SDK?).
I dont know why but if I look on the web I can find full stand alone versions of Adobe Acrobat Standard 2017 or 2020 (for example) at official software/heardware dealers. I assume when I buy such software it is legal, right? And I also assume the there wasnt any dramatic changes in the way of combining/merging and compressing pdfs, so I hope that these software packages are ok for my limited requiremnts.

Thanks again
Andreas

The Acrobat SDK is wide and deep. It includes APIs for C++, .NET, COM, Applescript, and JavaScript. It's not one thing, but a collection of different APIs for accessing some aspect of Acrobat functionality.
