Why can't you link external URLs to destinations created in Acrobat DC?

You used to be able to use .pdf#nameddest=mydestination to link to named destinations set in Acrobat but with Acrobat DC (12) I have found that URLs using destinations only take you to the relevant page and not the set destination.

It seems that this feature has been taken out of Acrobat DC, or is there an alternative way to use a URL link to direct people to specific parts (not pages) of a pdf hosted online?

I have not found any other discussions or threads (yet) that mention this omission so trying to get confirmation whether this is the case, and if so - why?

Cheers

Thanks, yes through trial and error i've discovered it does work as long as web browser is supported by Adobe Plugin but Google Chrome's PDF viewer does not. I have not found any threads regarding the problem with Chrome since 2013 and at the point #nameddest was supposed to be the new solution.

Anyway, I thought it very very odd when Adobe support told me DC no longer had that feature, didn't make any sense to remove it but they insisted, which is why I posted here to double check.

May be that the PDF viewer of Google doesn't support this.

It seems rather that it is Chrome PDF viewer that is the problem as on IE using Acrobat plugin it obviously works - however I have read Chrome had problems with #nameddest a few years back but it was fixed. Furthermore in Adobe support chat they informed me that the feature of URLs linking to destinations wasn't available with Acrobat 12(DC) anymore. Nowhere else discusses this discontinuation and obviously the URL links to destinations do work if the browser has an Adobe plugin, so I'm unsure what the answer actually is. If anyone can illuminate anything on this topic would be great. I feel a bit misguided by Support.
