Why does Acrobat XI crash every time when 'create from scanner' on mac

Acrobat Pro XI crashes every time I use 'create from scanner'.  Mac OS 10.11.2.  Scanning worked perfectly until late last year.  Have the latest Fuji Xerox driver and everything is up to date.  Can't find anything on the internet about this problem.
