Why does printer default setting work?

I have Windows 10 and Adobe Acrobat Reader DC 2015 Release 2015.010.20060. My adobe reader will not use my selected default printer. Numerous times, the program will default to Microsoft XP Imager, even though resetting previously. It usually occurs first thing in the am, after a 24 hour period. I get so frustrated every morning....if I do not catch that the program has reverted to Microsoft Imaging, instead of my default printer. Please, I wonder if this is a Microsoft bug.....

Please check after uninstalling & reinstalling the application

If this is office  machine, please check with IT team to get the admin rights.

Hi brendar67379083,

Please refer to this Kb article :- Change the system default printer

If issue still persist, please check with the different user account with the admin rights to replicate the issue . Refer to this link :- Adobe troubleshooting: Using or creating an admin account in Windows 7, 8, Vista

(As it seems to be an issue with the admin rights with the System)

I have already performed the steps you suggest, but yet, the problem consists. And as I have mentioned earlier, my system is a Windows 10, not a 7, 8 nor Vista. I believe it is something in Windows 10 registry that continually overrides my adm setting.
