win 10 and acrobat 7.0

Problem with Win 10.  I have tried to set my default to AA Pro 7.0. It shows that icon but won't actually accept 7.0 as the default. Sometimes 7.0 is used and sometimes I can only get Reader DC. There is no pattern to this. I just filled in a government form online and it was in Pro and I was able to print from it.  Yet when I go to some of my own docs stored on my PC I am forced into Reader PC. I can't have any control over which product is used .

How can I keep Pro 7.0 as my default?  Thanks.

Adobe have never supported mixing vesions. And if you can get Acrobat 7 Pro working AT ALL that's a miracle as the last system it was supported on was XP; you won't be able to use PDFMaker or the PDF printer. I'd advise not messing with it, and just start the app you want.
