Hello, everyone !

I have a question about adobe color cc. On the site of adobe color cc, there is a function to extract the color theme. I'm quite curious about the color mood 'colorful' is extracted by which kind of rules. Is the algorithm extract the five colors which occupied most of the dimension ? waiting for experts to respond this question.

yes, that low level of detail will be difficult to share. but if i have to generalize it, i would say more colors are selected by colorful.

It seems to me that it should be possible to enlighten the users with the philosophy for the selection, such as "the best visual attractiveness" based on certain criteria. That would not let the cat out of the bag concerning how this is done. I am not interested in the details anyway, but the philosophy and criteria are essential. What good is this feature in Adobe Color without some understanding of what is being selected and why?

Only someone who participateted in the development of this particular website will be able to answer and that's not likely to happen!
In my experience (but I may be wrong)
It's more to do with the choice of sufficient gap between different colours, counterbalanced by the area taken (A big area of mostly uniform colour will register as one, a small area with sufficiently different colours will register as multiple, in case of a draw, the big area will show more colours). I am not privy to the technical details but that's what I observed.
