Question

Less than 5 swatches in pal;ette?

Hello,

I'm trying to create a simple Triad that I can use as a jumping off point for a painting. I often like to use very simple triads, building out my palette as three monochromatic selections. It would be incredible useful to me if I could create simple three-color palette swatches that are not muddied up by the two unneccessary muddying colors that always accompany any triad palette creation. It's not really an issue; I understand Adobe believes that adding more swatches is not "inspirational" and is too "production-oriented." Considering exactly that, however, I find it genuinely baffling that there is zero option to even *reduce* the amount of swatches.

Thanks much,

Cullen Mathews

    Hi @Cell Void , couldn’t you just use the B,C, & D swatch and ignore A & E?

So here my theme Color Mode is Lab—C is the base color for my triad. I’ve set the A Lab slider values to match the C base color, and the E Lab values to match D

When I rotate the C Base Color, or edit its Lab values, B & D become the new triad:

The saved Theme in InDesign’s Libraries panel, and added to the Swatches panel:
