The Power of Video Media in the Classroom!

Hi everyone, I wrote a piece on my work at using video media via Adobe Express in the classroom to enhance learning, understanding and IT skills. I then expanded the work out to my English department with great success. The piece can be found below and there are links to templates and pupil example in the article.

Enjoy and feel free to ask questions.

Ben, this is fantastic! How much time and care went into this definitely shows through on your blog and examples. I love when students get to use their voice and amplify their message! This is such an important topic about GenZ. I want to use some of it with my students too!

@Benjamin_Scott4599 Welcome! Wowzers, what a great resource AND it includes student examplars?! Thank you for sharing all of your work with us. These student videos are great and I love how you included different content areas. It's so fun to see the different ways students incorporate the animate from audio feature. I love that your students picked up Express so quickly! I will definitely be diving into this more. So glad you're here!

Thanks Crystal! I'm glad you enjoyed my blog. I have been using video for a number of years now and I easily think it one of the most powerful and transformative platforms in the classroom.

I love this so much, Ben! Thanks so much for sharing and compiling so professionally. This truly is the art of being a being a reflective practitioner!
If you were to give someone a top piece of advice for getting started with videos in Adobe Express, where would you signpost them?

Hi Nicole, always start small when you introduce any new platforms. I usually start a class with webpages to introduce Express and how to navigate the basic menus. Next I move towards video and always provide a simple template of 3/4 slides outlining key questions to answer. I then walk through the task step by step, couple of minutes of talking and 5 minutes of exploring. (In Science teaching we call it 'a slow practical'). I also state that they have to include audio or a text animation to push them out of their comfort zone. Sometime I even specify it much be longer than a minute etc.

@Benjamin_Scott4599

I really enjoyed the article! As someone who loves learning as much as tech, can you tell me more about 'a slow practical' approach in science teaching? Have you found that Adobe Express supports the method?

peace,
