I saw the big addition to Adobe Fonts earlier today when visiting the Adobe Fonts web site and filtering the browsing list to "newest." There was almost 8 full pages of type families (12 families per page) from Monotype, which I guess comes out to around 1500 fonts, according to the announcement.

Some of the additions were really surprising, such as Gotham. Monotype acquired the Hoefler&Co foundry in 2021; Gotham was one of its most popular typefaces. Berthold was another foundry acquired by Monotype in 2022. Akzidenz Grotesk (aka "the original sans") was one of Berthold's biggest sellers. Vintage versions of Adobe Illustrator included Akzidenz Grotesk BE in the font pack, but those old Type 1 fonts lack some of the features added to Akzidenz Grotesk Next. I also didn't know Monotype had acquired some type families from Font Bureau. One of those is Agency FB; that entire family has been added to Adobe Fonts.

A decent number of the type families that were added also double as system fonts for either Windows or MacOSX. Type families like Avenir Next and Helvetica Neue are unique to OSX. Others like Segoe and Georgia are unique to Windows. These additions to Adobe Fonts might help users pass documents between Macs and PCs easier. A few years ago I bought a license of Avenir Next (when it was on sale at MyFonts) just so I could use the same family on my iPad that already had it versus my Windows PCs that did not. These additions at Adobe Fonts can avoid some of that trouble.
