Question

Activation of Fonts isn't resulting in the Font appearing in Any application

I asked in another forum, and they suggested I come to this one.

We have a Creative Cloud Team license for 8 licenses.  7 for users +1 for IT.  Of the 7 users, 4 are having this issue, 2 are not, and the 7th person isn't responding to questions.  The issue is not tied to the user account, as I'm able to log into their PCs using the IT account and for those systems it happens on, I'm able to replicate the issue, while the systems that are working, it works for my account.

  • We activate the Font in the Font Website
  • We verify that the Font is activated in Creative Cloud
  • We launch any application, create a text box on a new file, the font that was activated is not appearing.  (Note, it is appearing on the system where things are working, so it isn't that the font is under a different name.)

I've reviewed the following articles, and checked all that they suggest, nothing found.

https://helpx.adobe.com/fonts/kb/fonts-not-added-to-menu.html

https://helpx.adobe.com/fonts/kb/troubleshoot-font-activation.html

Today on one of the problem systems I uninstalled all the applications, & Creative Cloud.  I then ran the CC Clean application, choosing the option to clean up all apps + creative cloud.  I then installed the latest version of Creative Cloud, and then all of the applications the user had installed.

I repeat, verify that the font is activated, and launch Illustrator and the font isn't available for a Text box.

I've been attempting to talk to Adobe Support via the Chat feature on their site.  They keep asking the same basic questions, and I keep giving them the answers.  Inevitably they run out of the basic questions, then say "Please stay connected, I am getting it checked it for you".  Where they will either come back and unceremonially transfer me to another "specialist" that can address my issue.  They don't tell me what team they are transferring me to, but they do... and it all starts over.  I've been transferred to the Billing Team, Photography Team, Illustrator Team, Business Licenses Department.... and a few others where the support person ignored any questions..... and once the support person never spoke... just ended the call.  Oh yeah, and if they don't transfer me after the "Please stay connected", they end the chat.

So any help would be great.

An uninstall of all Adobe applications, uninstalled Creative Cloud, ran the CC Cleaner utility selecting CC and all Apps, then installed latest version of Creative Cloud, installed all the pre-existing applications.  The issue still occurred.  After several reboots the font issue looks to be resolved, however now Acrobat won't launch.

Found something interesting, with the help of Support.

We launched InDesign, created a new File, added a Text box and some Text.

When we go to the list of fonts on the system, the font I and they activated aren't listed.  This is as expected, because this is the issue.

However on the top of the font search list ther eis a "Find More" option, which goes to the cloud.  From there you can find Fonts and just select them to use them.  This works.  I also noticed that you can activate/deactivate from this menu as well.  Interestingly, the fonts he activated and I activated are showing up as Activated in the list.  However if we go back to the local app's fonts and filter by Activated fonts... nothing shows up.

There is a clear disconnect between the Fonts/Creative Cloud font management process, and the actual applications using them.

In one of the knowledge articles it had me check the Group Policy to ensure Untrusted Fonts aren't blocked.  I verified that group policy wasn't configured, but I went ahead and configured it to be Disabled.

So I'm still stuck in a position where Activated fonts aren't readily available from within the application, even though they are clearly activated.
