Anyone know of a font similar to Friz Quadrata? It's annoying that the Adobe apps don't recognize this font that I've used for ages.

Correct answer Bobby Henderson

Colosseum has some similarities to Friz Quadrata.

I can't think of any other flare-serif fonts available thru Adobe Fonts that look more like Friz Quadrata. The original typeface was designed by Ernst Friz and first published by Visual Graphics Corp in 1966 and then later acquired by ITC. Over the past 20 or more years the ITC foundry, along with Linotype and many others were acquired by Monotype. So now Monotype owns the rights to Friz Quadrata.

You don't have to use Adobe Font Library fonts in Adobe apps. You can install the font on your system and Adobe apps will recognize it as a usable font.

I think the original poster was asking about fonts similar to Friz Quadrata that are available via Adobe Fonts (at no extra cost). It's certainly possible to install font files directly into Windows or Mac OSX. The trick is having a legit copy of Friz Quadrata to install without having to buy it.

ITC Friz Quadrata was included in font bundles for Adobe PageMaker in the 1990's. Bitstream's version of Friz Quadrata BT was included in copies of CorelDRAW in the past. Deneba Canvas had a copycat version from URW called "Frodi T". There may be other examples of applications that included Friz Quadrata or look-alike knockoffs of it. Still, someone has to have copies of those old applications and their font bundles in order to install those fonts. Both Bitstream and URW were acquired not so long ago by Monotype. For a lot of computer users, if they want the Law and Order font and get it legally they're either going to have to buy it or get a Monotype fonts subscription.

I found Forevs Medium is 60% of the way there on Adobe Fonts - otherwise AI recommends Colosseum on Adobe Fonts but I think it's too geometric.

Hi @rpw_2020,

Thanks for reaching out ! Adobe Fonts helps you find fonts matching the text used in images. You can select a font displayed in the search results to add it immediately. Once added, the font becomes available in various Creative Cloud apps.

Please check this article and let us know if that helps- https://adobe.ly/42svB3o
