Basic question about Source Han Sans

Hi! I have a super basic question that I can't find an exact answer for so here goes.....

 

The font family "Source Han Sans" says it includes "seven weights, and supports Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Japanese and Korean."

 

There is also the font family "Source Han Sans Korean."

 

What is the difference? I'm working in InDesign and have "Source Han Sans" installed. The Korean text that I need to set as part of a caption appears to show up but as an English speaker, I'm not sure it is correct. I tried to add the family "Source Han Sans Korean" but Adobe says an error occured. I will run the text by Korean speakers to make sure it is correct but in general, will "Source Hans Sans" work for Korean or do I need to use "Source Han Sans Korean?"

    Hi @InD_user2468 ,

     

    This one needs to be clarified, and our team has planned changes to make the difference (hopefully) much more precise. Source Han Sans CJK Korean includes support for Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese (Tai- wan), Traditional Chinese (Hong Kong), Japanese, and Korean (“CJK”).  The default support is set to Korean, but you can access the glyphs for other languages in desktop programs, like InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Source Han Sans Korean is a subset of Source Han Sans CJK, which only includes Korean language support.

    Thank you, Neelam! What I'm hearing from your response is that Source Han Sans CJK Korean supports the Source Han Sans. Is it correct to assume that if I am setting Korean, I can just use Source Han Sans since it is a CJK font? Would I only need Source Han Sans CJK Korean if characters were not showing up when using Source Han Sans? I cannot download Source Han Sans Korean from the Adobe website but I do have Source Han Sans. Thank you!
