Diacritical characters of Peachy Keen font disappeared without any notice

Hello,

A few months ago, I was working on a project in Illustrator that included text in Czech and Hungarian. I used the Peachy Keen JF font from Adobe Fonts, and all the necessary diacritical characters for these languages were available and displayed correctly.

Now, I have returned to this project to develop new concepts. After reactivating the Peachy Keen JF font from Adobe Fonts, I was surprised to find that many diacritical characters are now missing – they simply do not display, and are replaced by boxes. I checked the Peachy Keen JF page on Adobe Fonts and tested several words in the preview generator. It turns out that the font no longer contains these diacritical characters at all.

Could you please explain why a licensed font, available as part of a paid subscription, has been silently reduced to only basic Latin letters?
Why is there no information or changelog in the font’s description about this significant change?
Is there any way to access the previous version of the font with full diacritical support?

This is a serious issue for anyone working with Central European languages. I would appreciate any clarification or solution.

Thank you!

Hi @Perfee, thanks for reaching out. I’m on the Adobe Fonts team. There was a processing issue which caused an older verison of the font to be live. We have updated to the latest version of the font so you will have access to the full characterset again. Please remove and re-add the font to get the latest.

Someone at the Jukebox Collection type foundry would probably have to say why the font was downgraded to a more limited character set. The retail version of Peachy Keen has 287 glyphs; the version currently at Adobe Fonts has 213 glyphs.

It's possible there was a technical problem with the font and changes were made. It's also possible the Jukebox Collection foundry only wants a basic version of the font available thru Adobe Fonts and leave the complete version as something that has to be purchased. That is a common practice with fonts posted at free fonts web sites; the font designer will offer a free basic version and have a version with a more expanded character set for sale.

Thank you for your answer Bobby. You are certainly right.

I think Adobe should inform users that such a change is taking place - a limitation of the font's functionality.
