Question

Font licence & Online activity

Hello,

I work for a museum and we are building a kiosk that has an Offline informational website. The original dev of the website used typeKit fonts that can't be loaded to the offline website. Our museum does have CC accounts, so we could log in and grab the fonts to install them on the kiosk. I was wondering how often will CC need to check and verify the license and if it cannot check will it disable the fonts that we have downloaded to display locally?

This kiosk will travel to several different venues over several years and we tend to not allow online access for security purposes.

Any insight on this?

Thanks.

Adobe fonts will need CC synced (and online) to be able to verify you have an active account. From the top of my head, Adobe verify licence - for the software - every month, so let's assume it's the same for fonts.

However, the licence terms you signed up with to use the fonts don't allow you to use them in the case you are planning to use them.

You need to buy those fonts separately, and not just buy the ability to sync them.

To check how to buy them, go to abobe font, identify the various fonts needed, type their name in the search bar and at the bottom of each font, you'll find the foundry and their website:

You don't get to "log in and grab" font files for CC fonts. The font files are not available to you. (If you happen to find copies of the font files on your system the license doesn't allow you to copy or distribute them).

For offline use in a kiosk you would need to separately license the fonts, with a suitable license. A Cc subscription for the kiosk wouldn't work for several reasons (being offline, and not being assigned to a single human for use).
