Font Sync inconsistent across 2 Macs

I'm syncing a font from Adobe Fonts in indesign.

When I send the file using the font to my colleague who is using the same process, syncing from Adobe fonts - he has to manually switch the fonts to his version of Poppins - and then I have to switch them back when he saves and resends it back to me.

Any idea why this is happening? We are both on macs using indesign latest versions and OS, and syncing the same font from Adobe.
