Question

How do I download a font (Livory Regular) - I only have a free membership

Hi,

I'm a newbie who is having trouble downloading a font (Livory Regular).  My project starts by manipulating text in Microsoft Excel with formulas (it's a long story). I can't edit the text unless I have it in what will be the ultimate font.

I have a free membership and my understanding is 1) I can download fonts 2) Livery Regular is one of the fonts I can download. Am I correct.

My problem: I am logged into both Adobe and Adobe Creative Cloud.  I open https://fonts.adobe.com/fonts?purpose=desktop&ref=tk.com&referrer=dd01e5bd12. I then use the search box to open the Livery family of fonts webpage (https://fonts.adobe.com/fonts/livory), but I don't see any means by which I can download Livory Regular to my PC.

When I click on on the 'Manage fonts' box one of the options is 'Open Creative Cloud App', but I have already done that. When I click on this option nothing happens presumably because I have already opened the Creative Cloud App. I seem to be going around in circles.

I have also saved Livory Regular to my font Libraries.

What am I missing here? Am I mistaken in thinkiing that with a free membership I can download fonts like Livory Regular?

My thanks in advance for your help and suggestions.

When you opened the Creative Cloud desktop app did you go to its Fonts section? When fonts are initially "added" at the Adobe Fonts web site they're only visible to Adobe CC applications. In order to make fonts like Livory Regular visible to other applications on the computer (such as Excel) they have to be "installed" within the Creative Cloud desktop app. The list of added Adobe Fonts in the app should display an "install" button if they haven't already been installed.

By the way, I often see the same problems with the Open CC App button when adding fonts at the Adobe Fonts web site. I just don't even bother clicking that. I double click on the desktop shortcut I have for the Creative Cloud Desktop App to open it that way.

    Hi,

Thanks for your help. I very much appreciate.

I've now got a better understanding of Adobe fonts. I've searched them more and see that not all of them are tagged as being capable of being 'Added". Livory is not tagged this way. So, am I right in thinking that only a subset of fonts can be downloaded to a PC and used with third party apps?

Anyway, I found an alternative for Livory, Castoro, and downloaded it to my PC. In Creative Cloud it is displayed as "In Adobe and local apps". However, when I 1) open up my fonts library throug Control Panel it is not listed in either the shown or hidden fonts lists. 2) It is not among the Excel fonts.

I have tried all the suggestions in "Trouble Shooting Guide: Adding Fonts" (https://helpx.adobe.com/fonts/kb/troubleshoot-adding-fonts.html?x-product=Creative%20Cloud%20Desktop%2F6.5.0.348&x-product-location=Search%3AForums%3Alink%2F3.6.3&code=eyJhbGciOiJSUzI1NiIsIng1dSI6Imltc19uYTEta2V5LWF0LTEuY2VyIiwia2lkIjoiaW1zX25hMS1rZXktYXQtMSIsIml0dCI6ImF0In0.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.eBdeMR_zHHxOjHa6ivC-wsXYlzAgjpYAvNMRLvcvcdAqyPLH-fMRYMd_2oyFILXoJqm1WBX9n-7KZnn2ZguJ7kEHtqRvC0D4GGABihTXOUnDYPUA79v8lil_DbBEjEouDFfAIJakMqTA80nZHsgCOdVduepRx2NKwv7Zl6FauvBXoYlADRc1NAGi63YizC4VhyA6L5tNXRw2ACx7x6MO-sbxZ6evJqReeVghIeKopQJ6tIOIEur2lfebSlN0FWYmos6MxCAd9yNWcvVvtaFGezvbtcUqfeZ6kZBFi9MI87pZYbWlvFQRK9cXjHHQDSLbZ_nxODahlqd5U3KN7c3G_g). to no avail.

I'm not sure where to go from here.

Do Microsoft Office Excel and Word count as "local apps". I would have thought so. Do  you have any suggestions?

    Thanks again for your help.

    Hi,

Sorry, my mistake! I just found Castoro in Excel.
