How do you activate a font from my hard drive

I have fonts I need to activate.  I know this is basic, but how can I just activate fonts on my hard drive using creative suite?  Or is this something that it cannot do?

    No, you activate them using your system. It's different for Mac vs. Windows. Once you've activated the font file in your system, Creative Cloud apps will see them. If you're still using ancient Creative Suite, all bets may be off, but it's worth a try.
