'Medium' optical size - what is it for? (Specifically for Minion Pro)

Hi all, I'm working with Minion Pro, and I can find guidelines of the point sizes to use for the Caption, Regular, Subhead, and Display optical sizes, but there are also 'Medium' versions of all of these. That is, Medium Caption, Medium Subhead, etc.

Anyone have any info. on the recommended point sizes for the Medium versions? What context would they be used in? Visually they're different but I'm not an expert at pinpointing visual font differences (not at this level of subtlety!).

The release notes for Minion Pro have info. on what I'm talking about, but don't mention the Medium version: https://frs.monotype.com/CatalogImages/44/215825-Minion%20Pro%20Opticals%20ReadMe.pdf

Likewise the Wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minion_(typeface)

Grateful for any suggestions.

"Medium" is just a weight of the typeface, like Regular, SemiBold or Bold. The different Caption, Text, Subhead and Display categories all have fonts with these differing weights. But they still have the same suggested point size uses. Caption is 6 to 8.4 points, Text is 8.5 to 13 points, Subhead is 13.1 to 19.9 points and Display is 20 points and larger.
