Missing: a guide to make Adobe Fonts work with a basic Wordpress site (aka Gutenberg editor)

I've made a few attempts to google myself towards adding Adobe Fonts to a basic Wordpress install.

Since I'm not very excited about using a paid addon like Elementor, using two systems on one website gets confusing real fast. But those do usually support Adobe Fonts in an easy manner. At the cost of other complexity.

I've made many Google searches, and the forums here just point to the standard adobe guide, which doesn't really tell you where in the complex innards of wordpress you stick that code. I tried figuring it out myself, more than once, never got it to work.

I saw someone on another forum say it just wasn't possible, or that it needed lots of hacking. It was an old post though, and I had a hard time believing you couldn't make these two market leading products work together easily.

So I'd like some clarification, if possible. If it's just hopeless i'd like to know from Adobe.

But, of course, I'd prefer a guide to using my font subscription with WordPress' twothousand- series of standard themes.

Hope this finds all well.

    Hi @Sveinbjorn Palsson,

You cannot get the font file for files in Adobe Fonts. You need to license it separately and make sure you have a license for web or server use (often more expensive).

To use Adobe Fonts on WP, you need a proper WP plugin that supports Adobe Fonts' embed code.

To use Custom Web Fonts on your website:

    1. Select the desired fonts and variants from Adobe Fonts.

    2. Go to My Fonts and create a project ID for your site.

    3. Activate your Adobe Fonts.

    4. Copy and paste providedthe  code into the <head> of your WordPress Theme's index.php file.

    5. Add CSS styles to your Theme's CSS file.

    6. Upload both files to your server.

If editing code is outside your wheelhouse, contact your web developer for assistance. Or find a WordPress plugin like this one that works with your WP theme. https://adobe.ly/3wxpcqB

Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

    Thank you,

    Neelam
