One face not showing up

I have been working on a 150 page document for months. One font in use Garamond Premier Pro. Right now the Regular face is not showing up, EVEN THOUGH Creative Cloud Fonts says it is installed for Adobe and other apps. All 33 other faces are listed, just not Regular! And this is happening on two computers, both Windows. All CC apps are current. On one page the document is requesting Roman, not Regular.

The real mystery is that much of this book has not changed in many weeks and I never had this font issue before this week.

    This has been fixed.

Please remove/un-sync Garamond Premier Pro from your machine, make sure it is not otherwise active (e.g. via InDesign’s Type → Find/Replace Font). Then, simply re-sync the whole family.

InDesign should be back to behaving normally, with all styles available.

Thank you! I already had the fonts unactivated, so I proceeded to activate the entire family. ID was open when I did this. Regular is now available (woohoo!), but Italic is not, although it is activated. I closed ID, deactivated Italic, reactivated it, and then reopened ID, and it still was not available. I am going to reboot now and see if that helps. I will report back.

Good to hear it works … almost! I can use the Italic with no problems here, so perhaps it’s a question of font caches on your machine.

An alternate way of getting to the Italic styles of a given weight (in most fonts) is the combination cmd-shift-I – does that work?

I'm having the same issues. It's quite devastating, lol. I've been working on a 21 volume book project since 2023 and have used Garamond Premier Pro (mostly Regular, Italic, Bold Display), but the font just stopped working. Meaning I cannot complete the project two volumes shy of completion. It's also split into two font families, for whatever reason. The main issue is that Regular is just gone. InDesign no longer detects it (on the rare occasion it is detected, Italic is always gone, 100%).

    • I've tried switching to another (freshly installed) Windows 11 laptop (HP Zbook G8) which never had Adobe software installed, nor any additional fonts besides the Windows and Office standards. This did not fix the issue (issue persists on both laptops)
    • I've tried re-installing InDesign and re-installing GPP from Adobe Fonts. This did not fix the issue.
    • I've tried clearing Windows font cache and restart laptop (https://luzi-type.ch/notes-font-cache). This did not fix the issue.
    • I've tried clearing Adobe cached data folders (https://www.ideastraining.com/TutorialsAndTips/TroubeshootInDesign.html). This did not fix the issue.
    • I've tried switching between 2024 and 2025 version of InDesign. This did not fix the issue.
    • I've tried cleaning AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CoreSync\plugins\livetype\r. This did not fix the issue.

What else can I try to fix this? The deadline is nearing and I need this font to work again!

I have identified the problem, and have stipulated a fix. Will keep you posted once that fix has been implemented (at which point you’ll need to re-sync Garamond Premier).

I am having a similar problem, and nothing has fixed it. It's hit or miss whether Garamond Premier Pro Regular will actual be available even though it says it is activated. It been doing this for months and I stopped using the Typeface but when I need to go into previous books and make changes, I run into the issue. If I change the font to another Garamond, I will need to redo all the custom spacing I have added. It's so frustrating!!

    Hi @victoriawolf,

Thanks for reaching out! We're sorry to hear about this. Is this happening with all Adobe apps or a specific app? Please ensure you're on an updated version of the Creative Cloud Desktop application. Did you try any troubleshooting steps so far? If so, can you please let us know about them?

We're here to help, just need some info.

    Regards,

Yes, to all your questions. I have been dealing with this since early in the year. Garamond Premier Pro Regular is corrupted, I believe. I have stopped using that Typeface because of it. I am a long-time user of InDesign (since it's inception and prior to that with Aldus PageMaker).

Is the error with the regular face of Garamond Premier Pro happening in an Adobe application or a graphics application made by another company?

These trouble shooting steps can often fix problems with type families added/installed via Adobe Fonts. First, try simply removing the type family and then adding it again. If that doesn't work try signing out of the Creative Cloud account, rebooting the system and then signing into the account again. Finally, if that doesn't work try deleting the font data cache file to force the computer to re-build it.

Hopefully one of those steps will solve the problem.
