Question

Possibility to see logfiles/reports or version of a font?

Hi Community,

is it possible in AdobeFonts, in 'Custom Fonts' (as admin), to see logfiles/reports why a font is not loaded or when a user has loaded a font?
Or is it possible to read out versions of fonts? (Example V1.0/V2.0) This is important for us, as two customers use different versions of a font.

Many thanks for any information.
Frank

Unless I'm missing something I don't think there is a way to select individual font files synced from Adobe Fonts and check the properties of the selected font file, such as its build version. Such information would be useful if it could be displayed either in the Creative Cloud app or at the Adobe Fonts website. I'd like to see Adobe add a glyphs table to show all the characters within a font file for type browsing purposes.

Generally speaking, if two different users are working on a document and they're not using a typeface from the same source they're liable to run into problems. If one person is using Myriad synced from Adobe Fonts and the other person has Myriad installed in the OS via OTF files then font subsitution issues would be very likely when they share documents using the fonts. They have to use the same version of the typeface and same font format even. Postscript Type 1 fonts don't work in Adobe's applications anymore. That might simplify the situation a little bit (although one can take old T1 fonts and convert them into TTF or OTF files via third party applications).

Hi, that's right, this is a source of error if two users are working on a document with different versions. But it also goes in the direction of colleague A creating the document with the Myriad from Adobe Fonts and colleague B perhaps implementing corrections with the Myriad from the OS. And breaks or glyphs are no longer correct.

Is there a way to read out reports, for example when fonts were imported or by whom?

As far as I can tell Illustrator files don't include anything resembling a log report of fonts when specific fonts were used and by whom. In Adobe Bridge you can select an Illustrator file and view metadata info. The best it offers is a list of active fonts present in the document. But it doesn't list specific info about each font, such as the font format used or the font's build version.
