Question: Fonts and Licensing

Hello there,

My team and I are working on a magazine, which is registered as an LLC and business. I have been designing thus far using my Creative Cloud account, and some of our social media posts have been made by others using Canva.

I know that with Adobe, fonts are able to be utilized for commercial use. My question is, since the font is available to download by anyone for personal use, would other designers WITHOUT access to Adobe Creative Cloud be able to use the font and create graphics? Is it only licensed for commercial use because I pay for Creative Cloud?

Would they be able to tell from the file of the graphics with the font, that someone has or does not have the font licensed?

Thank you!

Hi @mzetley,

Welcome to the community! In addition to the suggestions provided by @Imaginerie & @Test Screen Name. I would like to inform you that extracting the font files from their obscured location violates our end-user license agreement.

Regards,

Tarun

Anyone who has access to these fonts in their creative cloud subscription will be able to use the same font if they wish to. If you want to have an exclusivity for a specific font, then you'll have to have one build for yourself.

When I wasn't a freelancer, I bought fonts from Fonts.com, and whether I was a profesional or not, they didn't care, and so is Adobe. You pay for your subscription, you can use the fonts within the terms of your licence, whether it's your bread and butter or not.

the fact that you are a LLC doesn't change anything to the terms of licencing (which can be found here: https://helpx.adobe.com/uk/fonts/using/font-licensing.html)

Hope it answers your question!
Otherwise please clarify!

"My question is, since the font is available to download by anyone for personal use, "

Please explain what you mean by that. It isn't even available to YOU to download, so far as I know.

Your license to use the font through CC exists as long as you keep the subscription going. The next day, the license is gone and the fonts have disappeared. You can still license the fonts other ways.
