Got an email from Sam QUINN stating that there is a licensing issue on a website. Has anyone else received an email regarding this and what was the outcome/action?

Email:

Hello again,

Unfortunately we did not receive a reply to our email sent on 2023-05-16 regarding the potential font licensing issue of our fonts Proxima Nova used on (website). We are hoping that you will get back to us so that we can resolve this issue as we know font licensing can be confusing.

Let us know if you were able to locate a license; if not, please go to (licensing assitant) so that you can purchase an appropriate license for your use of our fonts.

Of course please let us know if you need any help determining which kind of license to purchase or if you have any other questions.

Thank you again for looking into this matter!

Best,
Sam

Sam's a scammer, type foundry or not. Ignore it and don't give him a dime.

    Hi @Cliff28624302ut2l ,

When you implement Adobe Fonts on your site, for Adobe to be able to provide the font, diagnose delivery or download issues, and fulfill our royalty obligations regarding the fonts used, we need to collect specific data from site visitors. You can find a list of data the Fonts service contains at https://www.adobe.com/privacy/policies/adobe-fonts.html?linkId=100000196583828.

This data is only retained for as long as is necessary to deliver the fonts and fulfill our contracts with the font foundries whose fonts are utilized. Additionally, site visitors' IP addresses are collected so that the Fonts service knows where to deliver the font, but this information is not stored. Adobe will process all personal data in compliance with applicable data protection laws. For more information about Adobe Fonts, please visit our page at https://www.adobe.com/privacy/policies/adobe-fonts.html?linkId=100000196583828.

As the data controller of your site, you determine your legal basis for processing. Please consult your legal counsel for more information regarding compliance with data protection laws. If you would like to sign a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) with Adobe, you may request our standard agreement as outlined in our General Terms of Use at

    https://www.adobe.com/legal/terms.html?linkId=100000196583829

Please let us know if the information provided above helps you. We are here to help you.

    Thank you,

    Neelam

Hi, i received the same message from Sam about Proxima Nova and i a little bit confused. I have

Creative Cloud All Apps 100GB plan, used Proxima Nova on my site, but i didn't know that i should use in according special guide and this font was self hosted since the integration code was not available at the time the site was created. After the emaol from Sam I delete the font from my site but they still ask to pay for it usage in the past. Could you please clarify,  despite the self hosting, since I have active Adobe font license, I am not in any infringement of license? Should I pay anything to Sam? Thanks
