Sol Sans Variable keeps changing from bold to bold italic

I use Sol Sans Variable for a lot of my work, and whenever I reopen a file that uses the Bold font, it switches to Bold Italic, and won't let me switch back. I have about 100 files that use this that I need to make alterations to and I need help!

I'm attaching screen shots of what it looks like when I first open the file, and what happens when I click on it.

I'm using a mac book pro running  Sonoma 14.15

I'm not able to reproduce the same problem with Sole Sans Variable on a Windows-based PC. I tried a couple of steps I've seen create conflicts with fonts. Rival graphics applications and font management apps can cause problems if Illustrator is launched with them already running in the background. Sole Sans doesn't seem to be affected by that.

It might be worth trying some basic trouble-shooting steps to see if the problem clears itself. Try signing out of the Creative Cloud account, rebooting the computer and then signing back into Creative Cloud. You could also delete the font data cache file to force the system to rebuild the file. That might clear any corruption issues.

It's also possible the font files themselves could have technical problems that need to be fixed.

Deleting the font data cache worked! Thank you so much!

I'm glad that solved the problem for you.

Unfortunately, it just started happening again, though it seems to only be in Photoshop. I tried clearing the font cache again and rebooting creative cloud, but neither helped. Do you have any other tricks up your sleeve?

Thanks!

As this is a fonts issue, and not a stock issue, I'll move this thread to the correct forum.
