What happens to the Web Project fonts when account became inactive?

I've seen a similar question back in the Typekit days but wanted to bring this up now in Adobe Fonts.

I'm just starting to use Adobe Fonts in websites which is great because of the wide array of font choices. However, my clients are a little apprehensive about using them because of how a Web Project is tied to someone's CC account.

So what happens when I design a website using a Web Project that is tied to my account and suddenly my account goes inactive for some reason. Do all those fonts get replaced?

Hi Mhay,

Thank you for reaching out. It looks like you want to know if the account goes inactive for some reasons, are the fonts get replaced?. The Fonts don't get replaced. However, our fonts will stop working. The fonts on the site will go to the default or the next font in the CSS.

For example:

Font-family, Proxima-nova, myriad, sans-serif;

If someone was using Proxima Nova from us, then their account stopped working, the browser would look for Myriad and if that font was installed, it would use that and if not, it would use the default sans serif for that browser.

Hi Adobe,

I like to piggy back off this question, because its related.

This post answer my question to what happen when the account that create the web project become inactive.

But in our case, I would like to know if our organisation have a corporate subscriptions for each of our devs, and one of our dev had created a web project to allow us to use an Adobe web fonts on one of our website.

If the dev left an the account is then close will the font also stop working?, even though our corporate subscription is still active?

 

If yes, 

Could we link the web project to our corporate subscription instead so that we can avoid this kind of issue?

    Personal perspective: subscription web fonts are great and simple, but I can't imagine any serious enterprise using them in their web site. People leaving, upheavals, billing glitches; changes to the service that nobody noticed... do you want to be accountable for the failure of the site because of actions in admin or failure to keep up with changes?

     

    I see font subscriptions in this case as being for fast protoytyping, which being sure to choose only fonts that can be licensed and installed on your own servers. Include the cost of such fonts in the project from the outset. 

     

    Another advantage could be that corporate fonts could be licensed and standardised, discouraging inventive designers who haven't read or don't believe the corporate font rules...
