Adobe Media Encoder Error

Hi there,

Randomly a couple of weeks ago, my Media Encoder CC 2016 would not open. The error 'Adobe Media Encoder Error' kept popping up (please see attached image).
I tried updating the app and reopening it, with no success. I then uninstalled the app and reinstalled it, also with no success.

Does anyone have any solutions?

I have a late 2015 iMac running on El Capitan 10.11.6 (I know this isn't the most recent OS too...)
