Question

After Effects comps not appearing in the Media Encoder queue

About a month ago I noticed that when I exported an After Effects comp to Media Encoder queue, the comp never came through.

Since, I have tried all avenues:

  1. Dragging the comp directly over from AE to ME, the ‘Dynamic link’ pop up, loads forever and never actually loads.
  2. Uninstalling and reinstalling both apps.
  3. Using older versions (not helpful though as my newer AE projects then don’t open).
  4. Making sure both AE and ME are the same versions.
  5. I’ve reset both and cleared caches.

I’ve spoke to a friend who’s having the exact same issues so wondering if it’s an Adobe issue rather than my machine?

I am using Render Queue in the meantime but much prefer Media Encoder so ideally need it sorting.

Thanks!

    Hi Holly,

Sorry you're having trouble with this. It sounds like Dynamic Link between After Effects and Media Encoder may not be connecting correctly.

I can recommend a troubleshooting article for this issue here:

    https://helpx.adobe.com/after-effects/desktop/troubleshooting/fixed-and-known-issues/after-effects-composition-export-error.html

In particular, try adding the composition to the After Effects Render Queue first, then choose Queue in AME. You can also try disabling Enable Parallel Encoding in Media Encoder under Preferences > General.

If the issue continues, could you share your exact After Effects version, Media Encoder version, and OS version? It would also be helpful to know whether a new project with a simple composition can be sent successfully to Media Encoder.

Let us know how it goes. Sorry for the frustration.

    Thanks,
    Kevin
