Question

Automatic suffix to output file name?

Is it possible to have a suffix added to the output file name when using a (custom) preset?

For example, if I use my custom Prores422 preset, that would automatically add something like "_Example" in the end of the file name.

Hello Atte J. You can do this via Ingest Presets. AME->PresetBrowser->'+' Create Ingest Preset. You need to select transcode with your defined custom preset or system preset, and you can select the File Rename option, where you need to define a Rename preset with 'File Name' + 'Custom(your free text here)'. If you apply this to your job, it should do the trick.

But does this mean the destination folder for the encoded files is always the same? Defined in the preset? That is how I understand it works... Besides, it seems the ingest preset only accepts H.264/mp4 encoding presets and that's not what I need. To be honest I don't get the whole ingest business, it's not for me 😉

What I need is just this suffix thing and because the destination folder is specific for each project the preset cannot define it. Otherwise, what's the point...?

just select custom in Output To: dropdown option. and add whatever you want to add in the end of shotname.

ProRes/[projectName]_Example.[fileExtension]

this one creates ProRes folder and render inside with _Example at end of name.
