Best workflow for Closed Captions MP4 with CC embedded to MXF OP1a

I am not sure what is the problem but I can not get AME to keep the embedded Closed Captions when all that needs to happen is encode from MP4 to MXF? I have used the typical presets DNxHD MXF OP1a or other exports that AME 15.4.1 is suppose to export with embedded captions. But every file the Closed Captions are stripped out?
What is the best solution?

Are you trying to bring an mpeg file with embedded captions into AME and export MXF with embedded captions? Does PR import the captions if you open it there (with the preferences set to import captions)?

This workflow only uses AME. I have not opened the media in Premiere. I see the captions in MediaInfo and VLC prior to exporting the file through AME in desired export settings.

I don't understand why the CC are being taken out.

Fascinating. AME "sees" your captions and offers the option to embed. Given that, I would expect it would embed them in the mxf op1.

I don't have a mp4 file with captions embedded (nor mpeg, which is another one that might be an issue). I tested by using an mxf op1 that I previously exported from PR. If yours worked I thought mine would. (I do have preferences set to import captions, as I assume you do.) But AME 2021 (15.4.1) does not show any options for captions as if it does not see them. Go figure.

Embedded: The option to export as Embedded is available only for pro codecs like MXF OP1a, DNX, and ProRes and requires that the caption track format be set to one of the broadcast standards like CEA-608.

QuickTime embedded export currently only supports embedding CEA-608. MXF Op1a Formats can embed CEA-608, CEA-708, and Australian OP-47 (if 25fps). You will also need those track types in your sequence in order to embed. For example, if you have an SRT in sequence, that cannot be embedded. You must have a compatible format such as 608, 708 or Aus OP-47.
